Tamla Motown was formed by Berry Gordy in the late 1950s in Detroit, Michegan. Berry started to release records from his roster of US labels in the UK in the early 1960s and the world has never been the same since. 2009 is Motown's 50th anniversary and Universal music are releasing some great limited edition CDs and also, some nice merchandise.
